One of our favourite new Ottawa bands The Monotymes have released a brand new track called “Halloween 1913,” as well as a music video along with it.
The video itself was filmed at the home of one of the band members, and features the group along with a bunch of friends. The setting is a Halloween costume party where lead vocalist Bri is dressed up as a burning White House during the War of 1812, guitarist Adam is a banana, Andrew is the tough guy bouncer, and bassist Alex is a tiger. Needless to say after watching the video, things go south fast and the party ends up being a bust.
The new single is a fun toe-tapper, where Bri’s relaxed vocals provide a soothing backdrop for the rest of the band to have fun. Alex and Adam’s pitch-perfect harmonies through the chorus are the cherry on top, and the track is sure to be one that causes some hips to sway live.
Speaking of live, you can catch The Monotymes at our 90’s Spring Fling at Knox Church this Saturday along with amigos Sparklesaurus and Mark ii. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Record Centre and Compact Music (Centretown), or online here. There will also be plenty at the door.
