Review: Good2Go & Road Haus @ House of TARG
It was a classic night at House of Targ this past Saturday. The energy around this show had built throughout the week leading up to it, and the place was buzzing with anticipation as it began to fill up. Pinball games were flashing, perogies were being called, and the place was loud before the sets started.
As a self-proclaimed ‘avid listener’ of blues music, I was looking forward to taking in the opening set. Road Haus was kicking off the night bringing to the stage a unique fusion of blues and garage punk. The band contains members of Pistols at Dawn and The Valveenus, both of which are known for their blend of energy and excitement on stage. They were fast and unrelenting, and did not disappoint. The crowd was there for a good time with the headliners, and they got it right from the start of the night with Road Haus.
I had not seen GOOD2GO before, but had heard about the liveliness they had on stage. The lead singer, Maureen Hogan, brought her own unique flare to the set, which the audience ate up. Extra tambourines from on stage were sent into the crowd, pulling them even closer to the music. House of TARG was ready for a high energy, highly anticipated set, and that is exactly what they received. This band has been around for a very long time and they know how to put on a good show.
All in all, this show was the essence of a Saturday night at TARG. Hear some good music, see some people you know and hey, I even got a lesson on playing Ice Cold Beer, but that’s a topic for another day.
