June 20 – 21: Glow Fair; What is It, and Why Should You Go?
Glow Fair is a FREE Festival of Lights. These kinds of festivals are a Thing, around the world, and it’s now here, in your very own City of Ottawa, in the Centretown strip. It is also happening today, June 20 – 21.
Now, you may be saying: “I’m not big into festivals of light” (you might also not be saying that), but hold the phones! Let me finish. Along with Festivals of Light comes music, food, people, party… this is where it gets even more fun! At this particular Festival of Lights, the music will range from Electronic / Deep Tech / House+ music with hometown heroes (just to name a few) Ryan Labelle, Martin Villeneuve, and Etienne Ozborne, to Soul / Jazz / Tropical+ with the Souljazz Orchestra. Headliners include Sandy Duperval (Montreal, House / R&B / Soul) and Chus+Ceballos (Madrid, House / Techno / Drums). We are happy to see that this festival is going all out to support local.
For the eye candy: eight City blocks will be covered in lights. Slater to Gilmour’s iconic buildings will be subject to “state-of-the-art projection technology”. For the hungry: local restaurants will extend their food and drink services to the street, right into the festival. For the thirsty: Kronenbourg 1664, Kronenbourg Blanc, and Somersby are the official beverages of Glow Fair. For the game-y: well, in-street games and tournaments will happen. For the sporty: a bike half-pipe will be on site. For the artsy: live art performances will occur. For the accessibility: “[The people at Glow Fair aim to make it] as accessible as possible.
