The super cool dudes in Dead Weights have finally released a full length album! The band formed four years ago in Ottawa, and have since played a tonne of shows and released a few excellent EPs. Their first full-length album Dead Ends & Closed Doors is available digitally today and on wax on August 5.
The rocking 12-track effort is a very interesting mix of raspy voices over pop-punk riffs. One of my favorite tracks on Dead Ends & Closed Doors is “Barely Breathe.” I love the opening of the song, “When I’m lonely I smoke myself to sleep, when I’m angry I drink till I’m happy… but right now I can barely breathe.” Along with the lyrics, the song is structured with some amazing sing-a-long potential and I imagine myself and many others crowding the front of the stage to help the band out with them. Check out the full album streaming below and download it at their bandcamp for less than one dollar a song.
