457 The Edge – The Rescue Mission
Trinity & James Noble – Promoters
Trinity and James, thank you for joining me! What exactly do you guys do for 457 The Edge?
James: Thanks for having us! I’m involved in a lot of aspects from being apart of the event production to being the Media Director for Revolution457, promotions and hosting. (the skate comps etc.. ) I also take the stage at every event with my band 457 Subject2Change.
Trinity: As for me, I’m part of the planning, production, promotions, but also involved in fundraising, taking care of the band booking and street teams and, of course, getting to be part of the stage action as an emcee for the events!
The upcoming event is the 6th annual “The Rescue Mission” and it is just one weeks away from today, on Friday, May 9th. What should we expect from this event?
James: Extreme Epicness….. Live Bands, DJs, Skateboarding, Gaming Contests, a load of Giveaways all surrounding a focus on youth crisis awareness, addressing issues and providing resources for youth who need it or know someone who does.
Trinity: These events are packed full of action, one second it’s a big crazy rock show moshpit, and the next it’s talented local skateboarders throwing down for epic prize packs, not to mention the shwack loads of gift cards, merch and prizing that gets given out the entire night! Like James said, this event’s cause is Youth Crisis Awareness, so being partnered with Kids Help Phone, there will be focus on that, as well as providing the resources, and of course, a super rad time for everybody in the place!
457 The Edge is well known for supporting different causes, as “The Rescue Mission” is just one of many. What is the goal with “The Rescue Mission”?
James: Well a lot of youth, and people in general, but especially youth, are facing tough issues like depression, pressures from society and peers etc.. those things can all lead to a pretty dark road. Not many people know this, but suicide is the second leading cause of death amongst youth in Canada. The goal with TRM is not only to bring to light some of the stats and issues like depression and suicide that teens are facing but to point people in the right direction to not only talking about it but getting connected with practical applications that can help them overcome the hard times. Overall this event is about showing people that there is hope beyond those hard times, and that they are loved and that their life has value.
Trinity: Even connecting youth and young adults with stories of those who have been through things like depression and attempted suicide, who have been able to get connected to the right help and are now able to live their life and help others through the story of their struggle, that’s huge… it really sheds light on the fact that as long as you’re breathing, no matter what you face, there is help, and there is hope for you.
What kind of artists will be performing on May 9th?
James: Five live bands are set to take the stage ranging from Hard Rock to Hardcore to Metal. Plus we have some great DJs who will kick off the night and keep the energy going throughout the event.
Trinity: With the variety of bands performing for the cause, I expect some head banging, circle pits, two-stepping and some good ol’ rawkfists from the audience. Bring your mosh, your neck brace and for the sick DJ beats, your dancing shoes. We actually had not just one but two Walls of Death at last year’s TRM, so you can definitely expect a great time.
Who else is involved in the production and managing of 457’s events? Labels, promoters, radio stations, etc.
James: Everything we do is run by a full crew of volunteers, running every event behind the scenes. But we do have great business and media partners who have supported the events since the beginning.
Trinity: 457 THE EDGE is 100% non-profit, so we keep admission free of charge. Our sponsors and partners are awesome to help us continue to do what we do! We have amazing community partners and event sponsors such as On Deck Skateboard Shop, New Beginnings Skateboarding, Living Waters CA, LIVEFREE Productions, CHRI 99.1FM, CKCU 93.1 FM, Morning Metal, Harding Heating & Air Conditioning, SURE Print Orleans, Carlos Graphics, RUWA Skateboards, Siren Skateboards, Reliance Skateboards, Top of the World and West 49!
“The Rescue Mission” is holding a Video Game Corner and a Skateboarding Competition – how would someone get involved with that and what are some of the grand prizes?
James: For the most part, all you need to do is show up! But to Skate, people will need to get the waiver off of our website at Revolution457.com and have a helmet to participate. There is no admission or fee; the show and to skate are 100% free. Mission GO-SK8 gives anyone the opportunity to skate the indoor park setup & mini ramp to score prizes from our night’s sponsors including skateboards and gear from NBS (New Beginnings), On Deck Skateboard shop, RUWA Skateboards, West 49 and More. Video Game Corner is open all night long for participants to battle it out for the high score or best time in an attempt to win $50 to EB Games. Just show up and sign in to compete.
Trinity: As for Grand Prizes, at the doors you will have the opportunity to fill out ballots for the main prizes for the night. For TRM, they are a brand new Canon Digitial Camera and a Pro Skateboard from DOGTOWN Skateboards. Not to mention there will be tons of other giveaways all night long, so there are a lot of chances for anyone to win.
How would a band/artist go about performing or being involved with an event?
Trinity: Bands can submit a request to perform at a 457 THE EDGE event through our website: HYPERLINK “http://www.REVOLUTION457.com” www.REVOLUTION457.com. Just click on the ONSTAGE logo and bands/artists can provide their websites and music and get connected with us. We’re always looking to connect with bands/artists/djs who want to get involved with events and rock out the 457Stage.
How many bands will be playing for the 6th annual “Rescue Mission”?
Trinity: Five bands are scheduled to take the stage and we’re looking forward to it being an awesome time with 457 Subject2Change, Obyrne, KillKassidy, Hereafter and Here Comes Bigfoot, Plus DJ Madame R and DJ feZZik spinnin’ the beats throughout the night.
James: Definitely one night for a great cause and a great time that everyone should be apart of, especially since it’s 100% FREE!
